Our lovely European friends know who I'm talking about...FRANZ FERDINAND!!! Their awesome hits in the UK are "Dark of the Matinee" "Darts of Pleasure" and the controversial "Michael". Their infectious hit in the states, "Take Me Out" is kinda like The Kinks and awesome. Their new US and Australian hit "This Fire" is like a Russian Comic Book. Their CD is great and was voted "Best new European band" by NME (but I really don't like NME) The Scots are on tour so check them out!
The CD is great. Its an all around keeper for sceptical buyers. Their aim is to make you dance and I don't know anybody who doesn't.
Jacqueline: Catchy song; It starts off slow with acoustic riffs and builds up to a strong rhythm.
Tell Her Tonight: I think this is like a Kinks song with a Franz twist.
Take Me Out: If you haven't heard this song turn on your television for 10 minutes watching music videos and you'll see how infectious this song is.
Dark Of Matinee: Running into your lover "accidently" is the message of this song. Really funky and easy to move to.
Auf Achse: or 'On the axle' is what Franz Ferdinand were to exist 40 years ago. Its like a disco song and is my favorite off the album.
Cheating On You: If this album has a flaw its this song. Its repetitive because the other songs have a change in music. This is one of the songs that must grow on you.
This Fire: The new US and Australian single. Alex sings the song beautifully.
Darts Of Pleasure: The drum rhythm is phenomenal. It keeps the song going even when the other instruments slow down.
Michael: The most asked song ever. No Michael or the band is gay, but come and dance with me...anyways, this song was written well, it's catchy but the whole album is! A great dancing song!
Come On Home: This is a deep song. Its about leaving what you have to start something new but you can't come back until you leave. Its about where you want to be. The beginning guitar riff is awesome.
40': Another deep song. Its about making future decisions and the ones made in the past. The bass line is really cool. A good finishing note.
All around the CD is worth buying even if its out of your normal grenre. I really think this band will go far. Franz are one of the better new bands.
